What is the role of a Guidance-Counselor in the admission process?
When the prospect is undecided about the career or program to choose, it is important to refer to a Guidance-Counselor for career exploration guidance to help this prospect find his/her career. Eventually, this will increase retention and career completion rates.
Patricia,
It is time well spent! You will find that the student will have a stronger commitment when they have a larger understanding. Persistence to maintain their goal is a long road with many ups and downs.

The reole of a guidance-counselor is to help a student explore their options and encourage them to research careers based on their skills and interest as well as potential outcomes. If you spend the time assisting a student make the right decision, they will feel confident and stick to their goal to graduate. My personal goal as an advisor is to always help that student put a plan together to prepare for their journey as they pursuit their degree and see the big picture after graduation and beyond.
Mario ,
Understanding what lies ahead after graduation is important part of program selection. Knowing what available positions are there based on the degree is an important factor.
