Organizing the Paperwork

I like the idea of creating a student file before the interview with important points to discuss during the Career Planning Session.

Charles,
Checklists are a great tool. Try it, you'll like it as a compliance tool.

Hello,

I think a checklist would work well when talking to students and parents, there is a great deal of information covered and this can help the student later when you leave, and keep you organized.

I think is a great idea as well. We have to make sure that we covered certain information and since not everyone that we meet with is the same, they might have other questions that might direct you towards talking more about certain aspects and having a checklist can help keep track of what you need to cover.

Piedad,
What a great tip! Almost like having a checklist for conversations.

I like having an interview or career planning questionnaire to follow up and make sure I don't miss important questions and or information.

Michelle,
Many schools use this technique. Just make sure all documents are current.

Bruce,
Your idea for a list of questions is a great one. Sometimes, in the conversation and discussion, we may forget to ask. Like it!

I agree. Checklists are a good way to prevent details from being overlooked. I particularly like the idea of a separate file for each applicant. When they interview, it is all there. I would also suggest a list of questions to be placed in the file also. This will allow the interviewer(s) to document responses as they are spoken and when the interview is complete, it is already filed.
