Campus Tour
why was it not mentioned
Melinda,
I definitely agree with you. We take our potential students to each department where they have their own personalized summary of what they do. It really allows for the students to see that there is true support at the school and that they're not going to have to run around trying to track someone down in order to get their questions answered. And when we show them the classrooms it really perks them up because then they begin to visualize themselves in the classroms.
Marlana,
The get a first hand experience rather than a rep telling them about it. Having instructors or program chairs to elaborate more about the program is a great suggestion.

Melinda,
Agreed! Making that connection to the reality of school is very key in locking in that prospective student.

I agree!! When i tour the visitors around the campus they get so excited because they get to see what they are going to be doing first hand!! They are really pump up and can't wait to start by the end!!
There are many students that are relocating to come to our school. Many are not able to tour right away. Its a great opportunity if the student can come in for a tour to see the classrooms and state of the are equipment that they will be learning from. It can sometime give more perspective from a visual stand point. Its also a great way to get to know the potential student, their goals and have a more one on one experience.
angela,
You can touch on areas of concern that you realized were there in the sit down interview. This is where active listening can be so productive.

Stanley,
The tour is the fun part of the interview. You are mo relaxed and they actually get to see what you have been talking about. Also, you never know who you will meet along the way, such as a program chair, student, faculty member, DOE, Career Services....

The campus tour may not be the best place to touch on important topics like the ones discussed in this section. Students are preoccupied with looking at all of the training aids a facility has to offer them. You won’t be able to reach the students full undivided attention. Plus not all Admission Representatives provide their own campus tour.
A lot of campuses have Tour Coordinators who provide tours for Agents and Reps.
I think giving a Campus Tour is the funniest part of the job. Along with taking the conversation to a more relaxed level you get to actually show them the great environment they will be learning in. It should be a warm fuzzy experience, one that gets them excited about continuing their education.
Linda,
It also takes the conversation to a more relaxed level.
Yes, the campus tour is a very exciting step. Several of the students general questions are answered during this time. They are able to see that class sizes and the format etc.
Christina,
Your campus tour can be a virtual tour of the student experience.
Sherry,
You are giving them a glimpse of their future. Awesome!
I agree Campus tours are a good way for the prospective student to check out your school and also a chance to interact with the students who are already in training and ask questions. What better way to market your school than have your current or former students give their opinion to them! We also have prospective students who want to get into a tractor/trailer and see what it feels like or maybe even take a short ride in one.
Good quiestion. We are 100% online so it is not needed. I'm assuming it is implied.
Erica,
Visuals can help reaffirm what you are relaying in information.
Yes! Very Exciting! Campus tours give students the opportunity to visualize themselves in the classrooms and labs as students.
I really enjoy giving campus tours. I feel like its a great way to get to know some of the prospective students. I like to do it in the middle of my information sessions, so the students can have a break and move around a bit. I feel like they get less over loaded by all the information we're giving them.
