Organizational Structure, Policies and Procedure
Does every school need a Career Services Department? Can the admissions official be the one that guides the student throughout the work seeking process?
Gabriela ,
This is also where Career Services and Admissions join forces. Career Services should provide current information and trends for prospective students and their career choice.

I think that although Admissions should defenitely be aware of the "market" and what kind of jobs are available, this is extremely helpful when counseling a student, career placement/ services should be kept in a separate office. In the end by keeping it separate the student benefits the most from each of the departments. Where Admissions is probably coordinating Information Sessions, a career services office can be coordinating career fairs or different worshops.
Claudia,
CIE rules require that placement services be provided by the school. It does not specifically state that there needs to be a specific department dedicated to just career services.
