Inviting prospective students to sit in on a class session
As part of our admissions process I invite applicants to schedule a time to visit a class that is in session. That gives them an example of the class experience that they can expect to receive as an enrolled student.
Kelly,
Most people have set an hour or two. It's a great way to experience the school without obligation but have sufficient time to see what school life is all about
Patty Aronoff
This is a great idea. It will help the prospective student to see what the program is about and picture themselves as a student. How long do they sit in the class? All day?
I agree. Especially for potential students who have not been in a classroom setting in a long time. It would give them the opportunity to get a feel of what to expect and a better able to decide if the school is right for him or her.
I agree, we have done that at our welding school and there were alot of questions the prospective students had to ask....Great advise
I agree Denise. I believe that live experience will actually calm their main concerns and really motivate them into engaging. I will recommend though to make arrangements with the instructors...
Michelle,
Instructors should alwAys open classrooms. This is where the excitement begins and the prospc TiVo student can experience their next step.
Patty Aronoff
I think that is an awesome idea. I am surprised though how often I hear from instructors that it is disruptive.
Stephanie,
Sounds like a great event! We all like to see a glimpse of what the future holds.
Patty Aronoff
We do this as well as invite them in during a guest artist presentation. This way the prospective student can see their potential career opportunities after graduation.
Denise,
Visiting classes in session is so much fun and very effective in providing a realistic view of the classroom experience.
Patty Aronoff
We do the same. They can audit a class and we have campus tours available upon appointment.
