Institutions Catalogs

The catalog includes all the information the applicant needs to know. The signed enrollment agreement comprises the formal relationship between institution and student.

Ludie ,
Interesting thought! Student do need to understand that the two constitute the contract and it becomes binding when signed by all parties.

Patty Aronoff

The ideal way to discribe the importance of the catolog and the enrollment agreement in terms of a relationship/contract between the school and the student is simply the parents between the two.

Kasandra,

Excellent! Some schools are also placing it on a jump drive or memory stick for portability.

Patty Aronoff

We give the catalog via CD and have it readily available in paper copy to provide upon request.

Jeffrey,
Perfect! Thank you for sharing your institution's process.

Patty Aronoff

Tiffany,
Yes, it does. The Commission requires that every student be provided a copy of the catalog.

Patty Aronoff

Erin,

It is in many respects. Not only being the other half of the contract, it provides the rules, roles, responsibilities, and procedures within the school.

Patty Aronoff

yes,the enrollment agreement is signed by the student and the Director of admissions. Students also receive a copy of the School Catalog and Student handbook. The student signs a form as proof of Receipt of the Catalog and handbook. The student also receives a copy of the Catalog with the orientation letter before classes begin.

Our school provides a link to a PDF version of the catalog on our website. As long as we provide the link to the students (and provide a paper copy when requested), does this suffice as "providing a copy"?

When speaking with my students or potential students i always instruct them to read through the catalog. I look at the catalog like it is the mini bible of admissions :)

Erin,
The catalog has such important information in it. We should always encourage and always refer back to the catalog when working with the student.

Patty Aronoff

Crystal,
Make sure you do become familiar with your school catalog. The catalog and the enrollment agreement constitute the contract between the school and the student.

Patty Aronoff

Andrew,
Everyone is different. Some people prefer to have a paper copy and we'll read the entire document. Others, would rather have an electronic copy where they can take it with them.

Patty Aronoff

Huichi,

Yes, you can provide them a copy of the catalog in electronic format. A jump drive is an excellent way to provide that information. However, your school must also be able to provide a paper copy if requested.

Patty Aronoff

I am always informing them to make sure they read the catalog. That it breaks everything down for them. It will show them the different programs and they classes they will be taking.

I was surprised to see how large our school catalog is at my new school. I came from a much smaller school with only two programs. I can see it will take me quite some time to familiarize myself with all of its contents.

I feel that the physical catalog gives them more of a reason to read the catalog then a electronic version. only because you want to stress the level of importance of that for them

My Question is: Almost every Student in our small private school has either a lap-top computer, Netbook, or Tablet. Can we give students our Catalog in electronic form? Maybe like on a thumb/stick-drive?

Chakona,

The combination of the catalog and the enrollment agreement constitute the contract between the studnt's and the school.
