Going Green

We have decided to go green and send all our catalogs and info by email or it can be downloaded from our site. Any other suggestions?

Brinton,

That is common across schools. Email and phone are the primary forms of contact.

Patty Aronoff

At my institution, we primarily coordinate with students remotely via email and phone, but I have sent paper copies of course material to those that request it

Jonathan,
Even with all the technology, the personal approach will stand true. Having the information both ways does give equal opportunity to getting it to the student.

Patty Aronoff

I believe ensuring the prospective students have all the information necessary to continuing their education is extremely vital. I agree with sending catalogs through email, but if we can also send info through US mail, we will double our chances for the prospective student to get the information he/she needs to be succesfull.

John,
Yes, there are many people who like to have the paper in their hands.

Patty Aronoff

We are green as well, everything is electronic. Students do from time to time want a hard copy of certain documents. These provided usually face to face or can be downloaded from the web.

Mitch,

It is a cultural shift and there are many proponents of moving away from paper. But, having that paper in hand brings a sense of security.

Patty Aronoff

Great point! However, we all know that our students make up a diverse group of individuals and I know from experience that a lot of people still like to hold what they read. They want the option to hand it to another person to double check things. I do agree that we are going to be less dependent on paper in the future as we are doing so now but I believe we need to have the options for those that need the paper to be in hand as well.

I agree Patty. There will be an ongoing phase out of traditional materials as technology makes itself more available and affordable, but for the time being, it's hard copies are simply necessary.

JOHN,
You still need to have the availability of paper for those prospective students who request it. We also provide the catalog on a jump/flash drive.
