Qualifying a perspective student

It is interesting to read about what financing options the admissions rep can discuss with the perspective student. Is every school required to have a financial aid department? Does there need to be another person who qualifies the perspective student to see if they can actually afford the program other than the Admissions Rep?

Kevin,
This is another example of where departments have to work very closely with each other. This is an entire campus approach in engaging with a new student applicant. Customer service is key in providing a very thorough yet diverse set of information to our students.

I think it's great having the physical presence of a financial aid coordinator readily available to provide definitive information to a prospective student during the initial campus interview.

CLEOPHAT,
Great news! Having a finance department where they can just speak strictly to finances is a great way to serve the students.

In the school where I am working, we have a finance department for the students. In this department, we have a director of finance who is handling all student's finance matter. He also sometimes gives them financial advise.

Shana,

Not every school provides financial aid so they would not have staff available. Often if a school offers financial assistance, say financing through another lender, they would see someone in the Business Office or Student Accounts.
