Assessments

Institutions create assessments that allow teachers and administrators to gauge whether a student will succeed in a particular class or institution. Along with measuring student abilities for admission into college or a university, these assessments can also be used for decisions on scholarship and funding.

Garrison,
Many schools follow the same process. The admissions requirements and subsequent documentation must be approved by CIE and evidence placed in the student's academic file.

Omar,
All entrance requirements must be fully explained in the catalog and documented in the student's academic file. Test scores and transcripts must be validated and documented.

I worked at another institution that had the same operating procedures. My current institution requires everyone to take the assessment regardless of previous educational experience. I believe there are positives and negatives to each approach.

anauris,
Assessments are very important to the admissions process. The minimum scores tell the level of academic standard that is required for the program.

My institution uses a standardized entrance exam called the Wonderlic as an admissions criteria to gauge whether or not a student has the necessary skills and abilities to be able to succeed in school and in their program of choice. The passing score needed depends on the program desired. However, if they already have an Associate's Degree or higher from an accredited institution, then they do not need to take the Wonderlic since they have demonstrated their ability to successfully complete post-secondary education.

Other admissions requirements include either a HS Diploma, GED or equivalent.
