Student Services provides great help preparing and assisting students to be successful.I believe,it is a useful resource for students who should be informed about the advantages of services available in the institution during the admission process.

Student services is the most important issue in the retention process, not only in the admission process. If they are satisfied with the services they still in the institution. A good and effective way to know about their satisfaction is to ask for feedback from the student doing meetings with representatives chosen by them. It is a direct source of knowing what is going in the campus.

I also feel that student services offer a great deal of support to each student through out their education experience. Each students inital interest in the institution was most likely due to the program that was offered. The reason they applied may have been due to feeling it was a good fit for that students interests and needs. Once the student is enrolled and starting classes, the work is not complete. Retention and graduation is the next step. Having support from the staff, tutoring and other student services available aids in this process and I feel is it just as important, if not more important then any other step in the process.

Retention is an ongoing process at every school. It is one thing to enroll a student but an entirely different process in keeping them there.

Never guarantee lifetime placement or any placement. Make sure that the student is aware that we are there to assist them in finding a job/career but no guarantees.
Our Student Services Department is extremely helpful in retention of our students. They have helped my students with a variety of unexpected events. For instance, our student services does a carpooling option for our students where they connect students with others that live in their zip code. It has been very useful with getting my students to class on time and every day! We also have our student services available morning, afternoon and night because we offer classes during all of those times.

Student services provides a wealth of information for students. There are so many challenges that students face and when they know where to turn for assistance it can make all the difference in the world. I also agree that the tour is the icing on the cake, students like to see first hand what the educational experience will be like. The tour gives them a realistic view.

They are! Students feel comfortable on a campus tour. They are more apt to ask questions as they take a trip around the campus.

This also why campus tours and orientation events are so key. It not only lets the student know what services they can take advantage of, it allows them that first interaction with the department and the location to stop in.
