Student Services

Student services is such an important part of the Admission process and helping of the students. SS is there to provide any kind of assistance when it comes to books, homework, advice, how to walk them through class if need be. They literally hold that students hands to make sure they meet expectations and most important that they know they have support.

Cristina,

Absolutely! When a student comes to our institution, completes their program, and then graduates it becomes our success. Finding the job of their dreams is the best way to finish off the receiving of a degree.

Giselle,

Student services can often times be the difference whether a student remains in school or drop out of school. Finding the opportunity to connect with your students and provide an alternate solution is often what saves them from dropping.

Student services prepare students to be successful and provide assistance throughout the student's experience at your institution. Students success is our success.

Attending school is already scary and overwhelming enough for most students. I think student services is a very important part of an institution and plays a huge role in student success.

I completely agree with yu Johanna. At our campus we call it a "hand-off" which is when the student has completed the admissions process and is given to their student services advisor. That advisor works with them with scheduling and financial aid from class one to graduation. Because admissions is generally the "first face" of the institution, I encourage my staff to be available for students even after they are enrolled. Often those students have built such a rapport with the admissions team, they feel most comfortable sharing concerns with us. Most of the time, these are issues we can't assist with (Scheduling, financial aid concerns) but we can guide them in the right direction to the person that can assist them.

Johanna,

Student services is in an overall part of the student experience. Often times students are dealt with situations they never had to deal with before. Student services can connect them to resources within the community that may keep them in school. Additionally tutoring, homework assistance, writing labs, skills labs, and other services make the daily experience far more successful.
