placement
Is it mandatory to advise on placement?
Minelba,
Those are excellent examples of placement services that we provide to our students. It is in the best interest of both parties involved to take as much effort as possible in assisting those students. It bridges the graduate to the community.

Cindy,
Placement assistance is required by the commission. As far as all other information regarding placement, it is in the best interest of the school to be transparent and provide as much information as possible. You are exactly right, we do not guarantee placement.

John ,
No, unless asked by the student. It is part of the full disclosure by schools regarding the program outcomes.

Helping students to find gainful employment is a valuable tool for any school. If the student feels that although employment is not guaranteed someone will be available to guide it increases their confidence. Holding mock interviews is also a great way to get students to feel more confident when they go out for a real interview. Finding and partnering with different companies to interview and hire graduates is also very rewarding to the school and the student.
My understanding is that it is mandatory to advise on your institution's placement services, at the very least acknowledging that you do not guarantee placement upon graduating prior to taking admissions.
It has been a tough economy in my area, so we do not guarantee placement, however we do offer placement services. An alumni group is very valuable in assisting graduate placement. We also provide resume assistance and interview preparation for students requesting these services, and often have potential employers come in as patrons to have student services done by our students. Social media has been a valuable tool over the last couple of years to stay in touch with the community business owners and alumni.
