Transferability
Why is it important to know about the transferability of credits to other insitiutions?
Why is it good to have a "articulation" agreement with other insituitions?
Max J. ,
Articulation agreements are great tools between institutions. With a solid articulation agreement, many questions can be eliminated.

Receiving institutions are the only parties that can determine which "transferring courses" meet the course descriptions of their internal course(s) for transferability purposes. Therefore, Admissions Representatives (and all other staff members) need to make sure that inform all incoming and active students accurately.
Having an Articulation Agreement with another school will help incoming students (from that particular school) to have a better understanding about what classes to focus on the most or to enroll in ...if they entend to transfer from and to the two different schools that have that Articulation Agreement.
Jeffrey,
Articulation agreements are wonderful associations with other schools. The hard work has already been done and the student can have a better idea of what is ahead for them if they choose to continue with their education at another institution.

Trasferability of credits, both into our institution and out to other institutions, is critically important to both our prospective students as well as our graduates.
For new prospective students, credits awarded for prior college work is a key determinant in their selection criteria when choosing a school. However, we make sure we follow all rules and procedures closely, because this is such an important regulatory issue.
Transferability of our credits, or degree, to another institution is a frequent question from prospective students during the admissions process, too. We answer these questions thoroughly and accurately too, as we don't want an unhappy student or graduate in future years.
Articulation agreements make it very easy to work with students/graduates from other institutions
Gloria,
Articulation agreements are definitely a win-win for all.
I agree it is good to have a articulation agreement.
Very important for all school employees since most students are not aware of transferability.
Tanya,
That is a good philosophy keeping the student first.
This is a good policy, it promotes schools to work together to help the student succeed. We gladly accept students from other institutions recognized by the CIE. We feel it is important for the institutions to work together for the students eventual success and continued progress.
Robert,
It is important to have these frank discussions.
Gloria,
It depends. Ultimately it is the student's responsibility to seek whether or not their credits will transfer. It also depends on their desires to continue their education, where and when.
Varnell,
An articulation agreement is the best possible relationship. The agreement clearly outlines the transferibilty of credit.
Catalina,
Many students do not do the necessary research to determine what will transfer. It is up to them to take care of that task.
Melissa,
Follow the required statement that is in the catalog. It is the responsibility of the student to research and the transfer of credits is up to the receiving institution.
Bruce,
The CIE rules give specific guidance on the language to be used. It is up to the receiving institution to make that determination and the student's responsibility to research.
Strictly speaking from my school's policies: We do not accept credits from schools that are not accredited. I would suggest that you explain that each school determines its own policies and that you can't speak for them. Of course, if your school prepares students to transfer to continue their education, you need to have a more detailed answer than that.
Its important to know about transfer of credits cause it is a common question made by the students. Its good to have a articulation agreement with another institution becasue it will benefit both parties involved
It is important to know your institions transfer policy so no misinterpretation is expressed or misleading to the student.
some students and potential students do not understand the process that is used in determining how credits are reviewed for possible transfer. it is up to the representative to be clear as to the institution they are representings policy and procedure for this. an articulation agreement between schools is good way to show a student that they can further their education without hesitation and trouble
