Are there any accrediting institutions that would consider a newly licensed school?

Regional accreditation is very expensive but brings prestige and wide recognition. With so many diploma mills operating, accreditation carries weight in the consumer's eyes.

These days the consumer is very concerned about regional accreditation. As accreditation is optional is it more important to be regionally accredited or recognized and approved by the USDOE to grant degrees, or both?

There are several school consultants throughout the state who are well versed in accreditation and the Self Evaluation Reports. These can be very arduous in nature and a school consultant has be extremely helpful. Check with your CIE program specialist for a list of names as well as FAPSC.

Accreditation is the seal of approval beyond the state regulatory body. Make sure you add the accrediting agency must be approved by the USDOE. Accreditation does not guarantee accepted credit by another institution. It is far more involved than that.

Check USDOE website for a listing of approved accrediting agencies. Be careful, there are many that are not approved by the USDOE.

Accreditation is such an importan ttopic in this industry. it is one of the most important topics and popular questions that we receive on a regular basis, and in some cases the diffrence between making the enrollment or losing the student to another school or program. Students want to know that they will recveive credit for the work,time, effort and money that they've invested in the program.

Some accreditation agencies require 5 years before application. They will not accredit under provisional license.
A school must wait 2 years before applying for accreditation. I do not think they will accreditate a school that has a provisional license status.

It really depends upon the accrediting agency and their requirements. Many require that you operate licensed by the state for several years before applying.
