National or Regional Accreditation?
What is the difference b/w both? We are regionally accredited and will only accept credit from regionally accredited schools.
Tiffany,
Excellent resource! It should be the first place to start.

Our school allows students with all accreditation- national and regional to apply. Whenever I have a question about accreditation, I check this DOE website: http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.aspx.
Aline,
Many students confuse the terms accreditation and licensure.
A school must be approved/licensed to be accreditated nationally or regionally. once an institution loses its license it automatically loses its accreditation.
one needs to know the difference between a school being licensed/approved and accreditated.
we need to define clearly those two acronyms to prospective students. only State gives license. Private company gives accreditation. Students called the state to find out if a school is accreditated; the Board of nursing or CIE never actually clearly define the terms that is the reason they always call them to ask such questions. State employees need to know definition of the two terms so prospective students wouldn't be mislead or misguided.
Stephen,
You are correct.
I once worked with an ABA accredited law school and they did not need regional or national accreditation. The ABA is recognized as an USDOE approved accrediting agency.
Brittany,
There are many good discussions on the forum about both. Check them out!
Both are recognized by the U.S.D.O.E. and are required for Title IV.
