Transfer of credit is very important to students coming in with past experience. It can qualify them and determine whether or not they would need further training or certificate.

We live in such a dynamic time. Life experiences can't always keep up.
I've worked at both ends of the spectrum, and do realize with proper Management Authorization one's life experiences can indeed play an important role in credits allowed, especially if it serves the purpose of matching a similiar course that would need to be taken. Also, Rules and Regulatory changes has omitted past experiences or added new requirements that prevent them from future opportunities.
Credits cannot be based on past experience. Sudents should be evaluated even if from a licensed institution.

Absolutely, but credits need to equal.
Agreed. To transfer college credits into our institution, Academics needs to make sure that not only are the credits comparable, but also the course content and the grade achieved that is required. I believe we also look at the time that has passed since the course was taken. So many of the skills have been updated over the years, careful consideration needs to happen for these especially.

I would have to disagree that life experiences shouldnt be counted as credits,life experiences are different for everyone and you cant put a price on knowledge/skills someone has learned throughout.
I agree with you that the possibility of transfer credits is important to incoming students. This is why it is so important to develop a positive relationship with Academics for clear understanding. Life experience credits should definitely be handled by Academics.
I agree, however, I do not feel, personally, that life experience should be counted as credits. I agree that if they did accumulate credits at another institution the credits should be credited.
