On-line Surveys
Do you recommend using any on-line/email surveys to gather information from your current students? This info might be helpful in gaining some student perspective on a myriad of topics.
Christina,
It shows their feedback is taken seriously.
Anissa,
How is your response rate?
Byron,
What is important is that you receive a sufficient response rate to have a valid survey.
I know alot of students use the internet on their computers at home or if no computer then on their smart phone. I think surveys are a good way to reach out to students but to make it mandatory might not be a good thing in my eyes.
On-line/email surveys can be a great tool to understand aspects of our program or school that either meet, exceed, or fall short of our students' expectations.
I think this would be a measurable tool for the school to help identify where improvements need to be made. I also agree that it is vital to post the findings with the student population, along with proposed upcoming changes.
Shana,
Many schools use either format. What is important that they provide you sufficient response rate and valuable information.
Yes but I don't "abuse" using this resource. Some people think that surveys "resolve all the problems" and make serious mistakes by using data that is not valid.
Julio,
Do you have much success with online surveys? Are the response rates high?
Online surveys are a very important resource for gathering information. However, it is important to keep in mind that a survey that is incorrectly structured produces erroneous interpretations.
I have received many student survey's from my students and they provide great feedback for improving best practices!
