Transfer of Credits

It is so important our students understand what where and why. Course descriptions vary school to school. The length of time credits are accepted are so important prior to enrolling our students.

Troy,

You are correct! It is the student's responsibility to seek out what will transfer.

always up to the recieving institution

Luis,

You are correct. The verbiage in the catalog must state that the determination of the transferability of credits is at the discretion of the receiving institution.

Ailyn ,
Most schools will not accept transfer credits after the student has started. It affects their program of study, financial aid, etc. It must be reviewed by an official tanccript and catalog. It is great advice to get it in early.

Russ,

You must have official transcripts to do the evaluation properly. The official transcript and the catalog (for the course descriptions) are essential for transcript review.

At my institution the decision concerning the acceptance of credits earned in any course taken at the school is made at the discretion of the receiving institution. Its unlikely that any credits earned at the school will be transferable to or accepted by any institution other than ours.
i know for a fact that our credits are accepted at other institutions however the policy states I have to declare this statement to all applicants regardles.

At my instutition, we stress from day one the importance of being proactive, and if a student knows that he or she might be transferring credits, then they should request official transcripts in order to start the process as soon as possible since the evaluation could take a while to be completed.

We discuss with student the importance of getting official transcripts as early as information sessions.

Russ,

It is very involved and there are no guarantees.
