ATB

The ability to benefit exam, is a vital assessment tool in evaluating were or not a student with no high school diploma or GED should be admitted into a post secondary institute.

Are there any other exams likes these?

Lidia,
That is good advice as many employers will not hire unless they have a high school diploma or equivalent.

ATB defenitly has its cons. It is not accepted for students applying for financial aid and also it is true that there is a low rate of employment for students with atb. I always recommend our students to get their GED before they finish the program

Hiram,

The flip side is that many employers will not hire someone without a GED or high school diploma.

I miss the ATB's. It really gave the Students who were never able to complete High School or fell in the trap of a non-accredited High School (Paper Mills) the ability to better their lives.

Daniel,

GED programs are generally test prep. The test for GED is conducted by an approved third party tester. The integrity of conducting the test is critical.

Is it really beneficial to have a GED program provided at the school or to rather give a scholarship towards their tuition and have them get their GED from a local GED school?

Jack,

ATB is quickly becoming a part of the past. Additionally, employers want a high school diploma or equivalent when looking to hire.

Patty Aronoff

I believe rules have changed and we are not allowed to take ATB if the student is asking for FA.

Robert,
ATB certainly has its drawbacks. A GED program certainly gives your student a higher employability factor. Many employers will not even look to hire someone without that GED or high school diploma.

I wouldnt quiet say ATB means a waste of time but it does show you who has the "ability to benefit". now as i saw posted who is gonna hire these ATB students??? This is why I believe if your school is allowing you to accept these students then there should be a GED program in place for these students before completion of there program.

nedric,
It depends upon what employers require. Also think about adding a GED program. Improve lives twice.

Patty Aronoff

I Think an ATB is a waste of time no one hires these students

Adrian,

ATB is the exam for entrance without a high school or GED. The question still remains that after they complete the program, are employers going to hire them without that diploma?
