Financial Aid and Enrollment
Financial aid awards, along with tuition costs, do exert a strong influence on the number and types of prospective students that consider attending
individual colleges and universities.
Deni-Maire,
It is best practice to allow the subject matter experts to handle financial aid. Even though we may have good intentions, a misinterpretation or lack of information can lead to student down the wrong path

Deni,
You have made a valid point. You are following the best possible business practices. We should continue to use our FA officers.
Adam
This is something I often avoid for the sake of compliance. Yes, I do address things like the ability to possibility receive FA, and if there are any balances with the school that the student needs to address. However, when it comes down to specifics, anything other than cost, I refer them to their appointment with an FA officer. I want to make sure my student is getting the fullest and best information for the appropriate, qualified individual.
thomas,
You should have a nondiscrimInation policy as required by rule.
Patty Aronoff
Should school make an effort to make their school diverse in demographics or accept any qualified students that apply?
Jacquelyn,
That is a common business practice. Most schools have separation of financial aid and admissions in order to remain compliant.
Patty Aronoff
Financial Aid and Admissions are two totally separate entities. We just went over this at my institution; because we are small and our offices are on the same floor (we share a receptionist) we have to be careful what we say to one another and how much info we share.
Anthony,
It does! With that point in mind, we need to understand the demographics of our students and be prepared to serve them.
Patty Aronoff
But this is something admissions shouldnt discuss
