Transferring of credits

So as admissions representative how do we learn about credit transfer processes?

Quintana,

I know it is hard to predict the future. But most students need to realize the decisions they make today affect their decisions of tomorrow. If continuing education beyond your school is in their plans, then they should investigate what schools will accept your school credit.

Linda,
It is best to follow a solid process. We never make promises or statements that cannot be validated by the registrar or official of the school.

This is always a concern for students who are thinking of continuing their education and I let them know it is up to the receiving institution what credits they accept. I simply let them know that they should due their due diligence and speak with the institution they are thinking of attending in the future to see if they will accept credits earned through our college.

I asked the registar at my school what the best way to handle the question. This is a very touchy subject if not handled properly. It is best to make sure you completly understand before talking to a student about that.

Stephanie,
Meet with the registrars department. They can explain the process thoroughly and advise you on how to discuss the matter with prospective student.

Kamala ,
Your catalog should say that the transfer of credits is determined by the receiving institution. It is the students responsibility to research.

The best way to learn about transfering of credits is to use your Institution catolog. The catolog will have all of your institutiopn policy and rules on transfering of there credits aswell as accepting credits from other schools.
