Social media is a great tool for marketing and referrals. I think that reps have to be careful when becoming "Facebook" friends with their students. Personal accounts should not be used for school issues.
Gloria,
We should always keep business and personal accounts separate. Is just not a good mix.

Dailenys,
Facebook is a great opportunity to connect with pur students. By placing students service opportunities out there, it enhances the student experience.

Hi Dianne, I concur with your perspective in regard to social media. The format is so easily accessible, and can be used by individuals who do not truly understand the universality, and tracibilty of this media format that it can be dangerous if not utilized with care. My institution has a facebook site but it is used mainly to show events that occur.
Michelle,
Pictures are valuable and many students use facebook as a connection.

Lauren,
We should always keep the personal side out of the social media connection. The school should have its own site and connections made through that site only.
Patty Aronoff
I agree with this. I get facebook and linked in requests daily from my students and I do not respond to these. I am not a fan of facebook in general because it can negatively affect so many things in ones life now - even your friends who may be far crazier than you are can reflect off of you. So keeping any references to social media reflective of how it is used in the school setting and not what your personal accounts, or even personal feelings are about it, is important.
Facebook is a great tool for sharing information about our school. We show pictures of Culinary Demonstrations, Hair Competitions and other events.
Aylin,
Personal accounts should never be used for Facebook. We should always have that separation between "us" as an individual "us" as a representative of our school.
