New Representative
Hi everyone! I'm a new representative who is completely new to the admissions field. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or words of wisdom they could provide? Also some tips as to what to put in the resource notebook? I really like that idea & think it could be very helpful!
Thanks!
Jessica Beal
Good morning Jessica
I am in the same baot also and one thing i have found that is helpful is include a list in your resource book not only of regulations but also of contacts. this can include your co-workers and there basic job descriptions. No one can expect us to hit the ground running and know everyones jobs but will allow you to refference quickly who you need to speak with to get spefic answers on student enrollment topics.
I agree Stephen. As a new representative we definately want to be accurate in our communication, but also don't want to give the impression that we are not knowledgable.
Never fearing saying "I don't know" while showing a willingness to do what is necessary to get the information they need in a timely manner sounds like a good suggestion. I definately agree!
As a new Rep myself I would plan on placing EVERYTHING I could possibly think of in a resource notebook. Of course that could become overwhelming and learning to balance what is really necessary and what is not is the challenge
hello, I am a new representative as well and I want to be one of the best representatives within my compnay. I am taking it all in. Are there any tips anyone can provide me with to ensure that I am going to be successful representative?
Hi Jessica, the one thing I have learned in my first week of training is to always look into asking questions to generate more dialogue.
Hope this helps,
Todd
Thank you Tim and Jessica. I am also a new Admissions Rep and my school has impressed upon me that it is important not to fake your way through the process but when you tell a student you don't know, always pledge a commitment that you will find out for them. That provides them with the info they need and also validates that you are committed to them. Thanks!
Great! I'm in the same boat as Jessica and this does help. Thank you Tim!

Hi Jessica ,
I am a new Coordinator in my area as well but from all the training that I have received so far , one of the most important things i have heard and learned is to always be honest and never be afraid to say i dont know. Those two tips will keep you safe in the business and keep your institution safe as well . hope that helps and congrats !
