Need to be ethical
I believe you must have a knowledge of the College/University's offerings.
I do agree with you. It's important to meet with other department chairs so that one understands what each department is offering to the students so that new studnets coming into the school has more information/ideas/direction.
I think having a deep understanding of the college's offerings is extremely helpful. At my previous school I had a deep knowledge and even sat with department chairs to make sure the information I passed on to students is complete and correct. I plan to do the same at my new college.
Do you have any methods to help you understand outside of the catalog?
I agree with this statement. Not only will it help the school become more successfull but it will also give the student a better understanding.
It is unclear to me what ya'll are refering to as ethics. A man or woman should be ethical and honest in all their dealings. Especially in our industry as we deal with young peoples lives, livlihoods and futures. The parents we talk to are trusting us to be honest with their most valuable possession.
It makes sense to know everything that you can about the school you work for. you dont want to give any wrong or invalid information to any prospective student. you dont want to give the person a mislead belief about what the school offers and build up any false beliefs that will at some point turn out to be false. that only spawns disbelief and distain towards the institution.
I agree. I have found that putting together a binder of all the courses offered is helpful. In the binder I list the the Director's and their responsibilities so the PGE is able to process the information easier.
What is the point of being the initial contact for prospective students if the agent does not have a working proficiency with the college's offerings?
I agree as well. Having a detail understanding of were the College/University's stands is with ethics will stand as a guideline for best practices to follow. Been ethical should come in every aspect of what is done daily and having that understanding will allow for agents to keep best practice procedures in mind.
I also agree very strongly. There is a lot at stake for students, especially financially. It is important that we as agents are mindful of that and act in an ethical manner.
I would have to agree. It is important for an agent to know what the values and ethics of the school are. It is important to be aware of it so that an agent would be a successful representative of the school
