Higher Education in the year 2013 and beyond

I've spoken with a lot of students that complain a lot about needing to find a job more than they need to go back to school. I understand that not everyone is fortunate enough to maintain steady employment but what are some of the speaking points that you use to help convince perspective students that higher education is the best choice and investment for their future and their career?

Make sure to always ask "how long have you been looking for a job" and "how long have you been considering continuing your education", then use their answers to let them know that they CAN do both and they do not want to keep delaying their education to just find a "job"...What's the difference between a "job" vs "Career"?

Highlight the fact that they have been in a "dead end" job for several years now. Most likely they have changed jobs but it is still something they don't enjoy and something they don't get paid much for. Ask them if they continue down this path what their future looks like? Then ask if they do get a degree and get a better paying job what their life looks like. Get them talking about their dreams and a higher quality of life and make them realize that dream is not attainable without some additional education.
