New Admissions Rep!

My main questions as a new rep for a career college are what are some of the main fears that prospective students have and how can I connect on a personal level with this demographic of students. Any comments or tips are greatly appreciated!

A wonderful tip is not to use yourself in a situation but to use "I have seen..." They may relate better with a situation if they can invision the person just like them.

To me the biggest fear I had when I was a new student was just going back period, thinking that i was going to be the "old lady" in the class. I think it is important for prospective students to know that they are not the only one in thier age group going to college.

I agree Brandon, many of my prospective student's biggest concerns are in regards to whether or not they will see an ROI on the time and money they have invested in their education. I help them by quoting them our alumuni survey results stating that our avg. student has an ROI of 1.8 years.

I think the best thing to do when starting this position is to be ready to break down barriers, and to be solutions oriented. You may have not faced the same obsticles as the student, however you can apply your general problem solving skills to assist them. Overall, I think it's most important to be ethical, fair, and honest.

My fear is making sure that I am compliant with all the rules and regulations. I value my integrity and I do not want to lose that.

Coming from a student stand point I believe the biggest fear had by most students include not obtaining a position in the career field once they graduate, as well as the cost of tuition and or what will I have to come out of pocket to go to school. It can also be hard to work full-time and go to school full-time as well, so having a flexible schedule is something I look for as well as perspective students. Try to relate to the needs of others to fulfill the needs of your agent goals.
