When should someone be considered complete?
Some schools consider an enrollment when they sign an EA and before finalizinf FA. Others don't consider an enrollment until completely done with FA. So...What shall it be?
I agree with you. enrollment is a process, and some people take longer to complete the process than others.
I think the concept of a 7 day trial period is a great benefit for students, so they have the opportunity to see if this is the right fit for them, and so they don't feel pressure to stay in a situation they do not feel comfortable with.
1 week gives them ample time to address any issues they have, and to become comfortable in their new schoolastic environment.
I understand the frustration in having to wait to "count" the enrollment, but at our school we do wait because if FA doesn't go through, then the student has not shown a way to pay for their financial obligations to the school -- thus that enrollment you were "counting" on would fall through, which is even more frustrating. I hope this helps give you a different perspective.
I would have to argee with you Jesse. A lot of school are this way. You can usually drop up until that first day of class.
A lot of times schools consider an enrollment complete when the student shows up for the first day of class.
We should never consider someone complete until they graduate.
At my school, a student is not enrolled until he or she goes through the admissions interview, takes the assessment, passes the assesment, sets up a financial aid appointment, pays the reg. fee, then comes back to admissions and completes all the necessary paperwork as well as the enrollment agreement. We do not enroll any student until all these steps have been completed.
I consider the enrollment complete when the student shows up to the first day of school. So everything before that i.e. easing stresses about relocation, part time work, and filling out all FA are all part of what we do. The enrollment agreement is really just the beginning.
A signed EA is not a completed enrollment. That's like you buying a new car, you sign the documents to take the car home and then the bank says "no"...Is that your car? Same goes for students who sign an EA. Then go to FA and can't afford the payment or don't get the FA needed to further their education.
I agree completely. Being enrolled is one thing but all paperwork should be complete before being accepted.
I believe all paperwork from signing the admissions paperwork to the final financial aid steps should be complete before being considered done. There is no reason so constantly have the potential student come back for this or back for that.
I consider it a partial enrollment when the enrollment agreement is signed. It is a full enrollment when all FA is complete as well as any other requirements are met prior to the start of classes. If the student makes it through the probationary period (2 weeks) then the student is officially enrolled and active.
Students are considered enrolled when they complete the enrollment paperwork and have been given their copies and catalog. However, a student isnt fully accepted into the college until they have completed their financial aid.
Students are complete when all files are up to date and they have all the nes. paper work in... also students must remain in class for the first 2 weeks. before we count them as a start.
At my school we consider a student complete once the enrollment agreement is signed and they have paid the tuition. It is always nice to get feedback from students once they have started the program.
We have one week grace period when we take attendance of new students, and if students is not attending during this week he/she will be unenrolled from school
my school also, we consider a student to be enrolled when they complete the paperwork, but the financial aid process is also an important step, there are times when this can affect whether or not they begin classes, they need to feel comfortable with their financial package.
I would be uncomfortable finalizing my enrollment without without the knowing for sure how tuition would be paid. So I do not think an enrollment should not be counted until FA/payment has been finalized. By finalizing enrollment following confirmation of payment both the student and the institution can move past the back end processing and focus on academic responsibilities.
At our school we consider them enrolled when they complete their enrollment paperwork and packaged when they complete everything that financial aid requires of them.
