Understanding Your Institution

Who or what are the best available resources for fully understanding my school? I would say Campus President, Marketing Dept, Academics, Instructors and Students. Is there anyone that I am forgeting?

Try to meet all department heads they are a great resource. Also make sure you can direct the students to Career Placement services.

I agree completely, some students may be the best source for feedback, however, some students may have some form of bias that prevents them from responding accurately.

I think this is a great list. I am happy all of these recourses are available to me at my campus, and find that I am always utilizing them.

Students’ provide accurate feedback however some of their feedback can be emotion driven

I believe you have it covered. Students give the best feedback from their classes to professors in marketing our schools. Everyone else promotes our schools from the outside in.

Understanding the career options after graduation are equally important for a student to know.

Mark, John, and Nancy covered all departments from the Campus President, to the students, to the employers hiring our graduates! Every department, every aspect is linked together!

I would agree these people are probably the most obvious persons to obtain accurate information. However, the catalogue, library and physical plant could also be useful aids in obtaining information. If one had contact with alumni an/ or employers these may also provide useful information.

Mark,

That looks like a good list. You should add the career services department (job placement) as it is important to know about employment opportunities available to graduates of your school. You might also want to add the financial aid depertment although generally admissions reps should not be answering financial aid questions.
