Ohio
Why is accreditation "voluntary" in Ohio?
Wow!!! I found this information out in my undergraduate studies when there was a rumor of camus programs being offered who were not accredited. You would think that program accreditation is a must. This is a great question Brandon.
It can even go further than that. Some schools who are accredited, the programs are not programmatic accredited which students are made aware up front. This just means they cannot possibly take the test to be certified. However in Ohio too, a lot of places do not require the certification.
this is good knowledge for me to have because i didnt know until this course that not all schools have to be accredited. now i know for future reference thank you.
Brandon,
Accreditation is an independent process that is not controlled by the State of Ohio. While schools do not generally have to be accreditted to operate in Ohio, there are many instances where accreditation may be required. For example, schools seeking to offer degree level training or participate in federal financial aid programs must first receive a grant of institutional accreditation.
