There are different types of accreditation which indicate how well credits will transfer from one institution to another.

Different classes are worth different credits and some classes will not transfer if they are worth less credits.

Many schools will not accept credits that are low grades. Also the same program at a different school may be made up of different classes, so the class that is already taken does not exist in the school they are transferring to.

Each school develops their own policy regarding what credits will transfer. In addition, many short term programs are not designed for transfer.
