Staff Meetings
What is the importance of attending addmission staff meetings? How many faculty meetings have you attended? What did you grasp from the meeting ?
Attending admission staff meetings is extremely important. I have attended zero meetings because I am a new hire; however, I look forward to attending them in the future and learning from the discussions that take place.
Staff meetings are essential to the overall development of the staff. Getting to know staff and what is needed to run a smooth ship will produce better outcomes for the school. Staff meetings are pivotal in addressing concerns, as well as answering questions to better understand need to know information.
I agree Brian! We are similar in our process here with an Admissions meeting once per week, and an all staff meeting once per month. In addition we have admissions training once per week. It is important to stay up to date on all aspects of the school to always provide the correct information to our prospective and current students, and to do it as a team!
Admission staff meetings are essential for building and maintaining an organization. While I have not yet attending a staff meeting in my current role, I have attended many in my employment career.
During these meetings, this is an opportunity to discuss goals that has been set, review performance, productivity, and evaluate room for improvement.
Additionally, this time should be use to motivate staff members to help each other succeed and reinforce everyone's commitment of working on a common goal.
Personally, I find staff meetings helpful to deal with issues and how to improve the handling of routine situations. Often times we think there is nothing new to discuss however when we come together, matters of importance always come up.
I have to admit at being nervous at first as well, but discovered quickly that being prepared to discuss your students with staff alleviates a lot of nervousness.
My organization has staff meetings once a week. I use to be nervous attending theses meetings. But after learning the importance of staying up to date. Weekly meetings are a tool for success.
You should have "small" staff meetings daily that focus on the business of the day, maybe 15-30 minutes. I recommend also have a longer staff meeting once a week for training purposes and team discussion, maybe 1-2 hours.
My team members participate in weekly staff meetings that provide us with valuable updates regarding policies and procedures.
How often are staff meetings?
I used to participate in a staff meeting every morning at 9:15am sharp.
It is very important becuase it keeps you updated with any new regulations and policies. I find it to be very effective in that it also makes it easier to know where we are as a team and individually. It is a great motivator.
I have a weekly admissions meeting and the entire staff meets weekly as well to hold a meeting. The admissions meeting are helpful to know where each of us are with potential students and what we have on our plates for the week ahead. The staff meetings are just as helpful because they give us an idea of what is happening around campus and what things might affect our students. Knowing what is going on in each department helps us be more effective when talking to our students.
I find staff meetings to be very helpful to gain information on what the student can expect from that program. I have attended a monthly meeting with the staff at my college, and I find it helps me understand the program in more details. It also allows me to ask questions about the programs. Letting the students know what to expect from a program or specific class can help them know what to expect. The faculty members also want to know informaiton about the students. Information that you can give to the faculty member that might help say if a student memtioned she doesnt like math and its a math class, you can relay to the instructor the student might need extra help. Alot of my students have questions on what they will do in certain classes, and this helps as well. Having an open communication between the staff and the faculty also helps if a student misses class, and the instructor turns to you to help reach out to the student. All in all I think attending staff meetings are very helpful.
We have a weekly admissions meeting with our Director. We discuss any challenges we faced with prospective students that week and work as a team to overcome these challenges. We also have monthly staff meetings which include all employees at the school. It is important for everyone to work as a team to make all students more successful!
