Improving the accetance of credits from school to school

I am totally in favor of having someone take the lead on transfer credits at the campus I work for. Would make the process and transition much easier, and allow the student to gain stronger expectations prior to enrolling.

I agree allowing students to have their credits transferred in great before enrollment. This helps the student and the college by having a heads up on scheduling

I agree that having a person on campus to specifically assist students with transfer credits would be a great asset in order to set things in motion in the right direction for enrollment. However, I feel it would also be a benefit to the student if more colleges across the board offered the same classes so that no matter what school students plan to attend in the future, transferbility of specific credits could go to any institution making the transition more fluid.

is this person your registrar or another specific position ?

I think allowing the student to have their credits evaluated before enrollment is a great thing. This way the student knows exactly what to expect.

It would be great to have one advisor for this need,

I think that having a credit evaulated is also helpful to the student in realizing the need or benefit of taking classes at the new institution.

I totally agree. Previous learning needs to recognized for the success of students.

Wendy,

I think it is a great idea to have an advisor that focuses on transfer credit specifically, to assist prospective students with their decision.

At the college I am employed at, we now have a transfer credit/advisor who not only reviews all credit from other colleges and universities, but advises the prospective student before entering the college. This provides consistency for transfer of credit and advising. The student can ask questions about transfer of credit before enrolling and make an informed decision to enter the college.

Any thoughts?
