Diploma Mills

It is very important for individuals to do their research so they are not a victium of a diploma mill. In same cases, companies will charge their customers a fee and provide them with a "diploma". These type of diplomas are not accepted.

Yes, I agree it is very heartbreaking to have to tell a student the diploma they revceived is not valid. It feels like we have just pulled the rug from under them. Many have become victims of Diploma Mills and are devasated when they get this informaton. Often times these are people in the lower socioeconomic status and they have sacrificed greatly to pay for the diploma. So getting this information is devastating. What could be done to better protect people form being taken advantage of by Dipolma Mills diploma?

Most people who use diploma mills are often "victims." There is one in particular that a lot of international students use, and when I explain to them it is not an acceptable diploma, they are often shocked. It's unfortunate, but it happens often.

Agreed. Education has shifted into scams for many colleges. People must research beforehand.

The sad thing is we are seeing more and more of these scams every year. People need to research the school before they jump into it.

The persons that I feel most for, in regarding to Diploma Mills, are those that pay funds to receive what they believe to be a legitimate high school diploma. It is heartbreaking to have to tell a prospective student that the high school diploma they paid a large chunk of money for is unable to be accepted. When you view the websites for these schools, they do seem very reputable, but when you look more closely, you find those instances of sounding too good to be true or have odd sounding accrediting agencies.
