the very first step to making my team stronger is listening to what they have to say. Identify the strengths and weakness and provide performance coaching. Delegate responsibility to help build commitment.

It sounds like there is an opportunity for you to communicate these things to your team and work with them to come up with possible solutions. What do you see as the first step?

I would make my team stronger by actually communicating when things need fixed. Some things go wrong and never get a second look.

Tell us more about your experience with 'allowable weaknesses'. How can a team balance the gifts and the weaknesses?

I like the term "allowable weaknesses". It's so true. I'd like to support others in recognizing the balance within each of us. Celebrate the gifts we each bring and having patience for the other side.

Evaluating each department and their process to see how the work flows. Make the team accountable with their new ideas

Janice, that's a great point. Understanding other people's perspectives and how you may come across is great awareness to have.

Dr. Jean Norris

I think all members of a team can use a course in active listening skills and non-verbal communication. No matter which role we play, we often do not underatand how we come across, or the non-verbals that others pick up on. It's hard to appreciate someone's role to a team if their behavior is obnoxious.

Michael, thanks for sharing this. I wonder, once you identified the weaknesses, what would be your plan for improvement?

Dr. Jean Norris

I would identify weaknesses and encourage innovation.

YVETTE,
It sounds like you and your team really make a concerted effort to get feedback from your students, which is wonderful. I get the sense that it's a collaborative effort from all involved to address feedback from the students in a way that makes sense and serves the students. Thank you for sharing.

Dr. Jean Norris

THE STAFF AND I WORK TOGETHER BY LISTENING TO THE STUDENTS. WE VALUE THEIR OPINIONS BY IMPLEMENTING A QUALITY CONTROL EVALUATION QUESTIONNAIRE WITH COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS WHICH THEY FILL OUT. WE MAKE CORRECTIONS ON CERTAIN ISSUES ACCORDING TO THE FEEDBACK THAT WE RECEIVE. THAT MAKES US STRONGER TO WORK WITH THEM.

Ricardo,
It sounds like your team values input from your students. It's great that you make this a part of your Friday planning meeting. What are some of the suggestions that you've had the opportunity to address from this opinion box?

Shannon Gormley

Our School has an opinion box inside the classroom for the students, Friday are set aside for planning our team reads the opinion and we act on the students request by offering more program that they want to meet there needs.
