Using e-Marketing Tools
How might your school make use of an e-marketing tool for prospective students?
Thomas,
Sounds like a great plan. What are other e-tools being used, or that maybe need to be used?
Elizabeth Wheeler
At the school that I work for, we have a database for potential students and when they contact us we add their email to a email server that will send them updates on the schools progress and current student projects as well as school projects throughout the year.
maria,
Great tactic. Thank you for sharing!

Hi,I respond right away to a lead, if it's a phone lead, internet lead, the key is to talk to the prostect, have them come in and know what to offer them. because if I don't call someone else will.
thank you.
maria,
I agree. What are specific ways one of these tools has aided you or your school that you have seen?
Dr. Jean Norris
we use face book, You Tube, Internet and Live Chat with Admissions, this are very inprtant factors for all schools to have to help a prospect student in the right direction for their education.
Giovanni,
Again....looks as if your organization is proactive and taking advantage of the various outlets.
Dr. Jean Norris
Our current out-reach method is by e-mailing prospect and current students updates about changes to an existing program or upcoming events. Social media is also another way we generate interest and traffic to our website by adding a link to our events calendar
It looks like your school is utilizing the tools to connect with today's generation, congratulations!
Dr. Jean Norris
We cover stories of students, staff, and faculty and then we generate short clips with information on topics of our adult student life. This has generated good attention and traffic to our social networks.
David,
Good ideas and observations. How do you keep up with the laws related to texting? They seem to always be changing.
Dr. Jean Norris
Mass texting is a great tool to use if you are only trying to reach a few hundred people. Obviously use it in conjunction with any e-newsletters or emails, but as long as you keep the mass text thing to a minimum annually, probably twice every 6 months max, then it can be really effective. It's more of a convenience thing I believe.
Laura,
With so many students using social networking, its great that your institution is reaching out in that manner. How has this impacted your team?
Dr. Jean Norris
We currently use email campaignsand also keep current with events and articles that might interest prospective students on our Facebook and twitter pages.
Thanks for sharing Greg. It sounds like you have many e-marketing tools at your disposal to communicate with your potential students. The more tools you have, the better, because this allows you to tailor your communication to match the communication style of your student.
Dr. Jean Norris
Emailing prospective students, and following up with other social media, and also phone calls to let the student know you are interested in them, and that your school would be a good match for them.
Usually a personalized email followed by a phone call works. Quite a number of our students learn of our programs by word of mouth (i.e. alumni) or by doing an internet search. We are in the process of launching our new website which will defintely help in a big way as well.
Interesting and thanks for sharing. I'm curious, do you have prospective students that would prefer to be contacted a different way? If so, how do you work with those students?
Emarketing (email, Costant Contact) helps to inform prospective students of updates. Updates include new programs, website redesign, scheduled info briefings via webinar, application deadline reminders and regional recruiting events. Info is sent out by marketing. Sometimes emarketing can end up in spam so personalized emails are sent in conjunction by admissions.
