How do you block out distractions when you are trying to multitask different people and activities at the same time?
Without knowing the context of your question it's difficult to say. Is this a student? Co-worker? Supervisor? Though the message may not be important to you, the person may be so you have the opportunity to shift your perspective to relate to the person rather than message. Sometimes we need to re-frame our thoughts when we know that the message should be important. An example would be a conversation with a co-worker - because you know you want to have a positive work environment and demonstrate teamwork, you can remind yourself that your role as team member is important and therefore the message is too. What ideas do you have?
How do you block out being distracted when you litterally dont care about what the person is telling you?
Sarah,
Good question. There are so many things that can cause distraction and make it difficult to focus. What are some of the things that have worked for you in the past? Sharing best practices with your colleagues can also prove to be helpful.
