Excellent awareness, Marcie. It's amazing the things we forget to say in our voicemails, isn't it? What are specific items that you plan to include in future voicemails?
Outlining the content of a voice mail message was very helpful. I realize I very often do not specifically ask the potential student to peform an action item. I don't create enough of a sense of urgency. I also think I need to incorporate more of the WIIFM strategy.
I am looking forward to adding more humor and personality in my voicemails. I think it will do a better job at piquing my students interst.
Awesome, Jason. Best of luck to you as you move forward.
W.I.I.F.M will be the first incorporated.
And i will measure my success by the interaction i get from the students.
This is not uncommon for many people, Jason. It's great that you have this awareness! What might you do to remember to slow down when leaving messages or talking on the phone?
It sounds like you have identified some new practices for your phone calls and messages, Jason. Which of these do you plan to incorporate first and how will you measure your success with these?
Talking to fast is a big one for me also, I really hate leaving messages, even in personal call. I find myself rushing through them.
There was a few things that I was missing that seems so obvious, after the module.
Arouse Curiosity
Telling the student what you want them to Do.
W.I.I.F.M
Writing down what you want to say: I am guilty of rambling and saying too much when I get machine. Feel caught off guard
And I did not practice before now I will.
Interesting insight, Andrew. Humor is a great way to connect with students on a different level and show them your "lighter" side. How do you plan on injecting a bit of humor in your messages moving forward?
I am missing a little humour in my messages my inflection is good but I may be to serious and scaring potential students before they have facts and figures.
I would have to say expectation. I do not tell the student what im expecting. Never realized how important that was. I'm looking to add and change some things to my voice messages such as; urgency and expectation. Im not going to ask them to call when they are free I will say things like "call me back by 5:00pm so we can set your appointment, to see our amazing studios."
Iris, this is a good awareness. I appreciate your honesty. Tell me, now that you know this, what are your plans to improve?
Definetely talk way too fast specially when living my call back number...
I like the idea of highlighting the benefits of a college education in different ways, Kassim. What are some of your ideas? I hope you'll share them with us.
Establishing the purpose for your call before dialing can definitely help you to shorten voicemails. This is great awareness to have moving forward. Make it a goal for the next week and let me know how it goes.
I do not use this as an opportunity to advertise the school and its many benefits in many cases. I will highlight the benefits of a college education in different ways.
I think what is missing in my voice mail messages are the fact that they should notbe too long. I will try to be shorter on the phone, to establish why I am really calling them, and to give them a reason to call me back as soon as possible.
This awareness is helpful to have as you prepare your future voicemails, Elizabeth. I'm sure your students will appreciate your efforts to make your messages more engaging. Keep me posted in how it's working out for you! Best of luck.
I know I am leaving generic, boring messages and I am doing it over and over. My second third and fourtgh calls all sound basically the same.I will definately use more creativity, excitement, and urgency in my voicemails, so as to hopefully solicit a higher response percentage.
