What is Working and What is Not

Over the past year I have become increasing aware of the importance of publicity. With this awareness we have made several changes that are working. These are:
1)we offer free monthly tele-conferences. I give an overview of our program and they open it to questions. All someone has to do to attend is 'RSVP'. Last week I had 40 people sign up for the call.
2) We have started a 'Student for a Day' program. For a nominal fee people can visit our school for 1 day with a program designed just for them. This includes lunch with some of our students so that they can learn first-hand, how our students feel about the school. Both of these have been very successful.

What's not working: I don't feel we are effectively using our demographic information to our advantage.

Laurie,
Yes, publicity and public relations is a way to target ideal students and employers and let your community know your school is THE source for training and staffing. It is also relatively inexpensive once set up and done right. Very impressive that you had 40 people on a tele conference. Great that you get people to actually show up since that is a challenge. Your student for a day is also very innovative. Now it is important to measure results - the number of respondents and number of them that enroll. Also how qualified are they. Demographic information is very important. We like to focus on who we are NOT reaching. That's often a way to double enrollment. Thanks for all the good ideas. Susan
