surveys
I don't have any surveys in place but that has been added to my list. Makes sense, of course, how else would i know what is working.
Surveys are great because you can find out how you are doing. As part of every plan and strategy it is essential to measure how you are doing. Then you know what is working and what is not and what you have to change. It is important to share the results to other decision makers. Thanks, Susan
surveys is the best thing to do because you can grade them by a grading scale.
Good points, Shelly. It takes a lot to construct a survey that people will answer or answer truthfully. Short surveys where people check on a scale get answered more than fill in the blanks. But again, is the info really valid? How about in person surveys. Ask the same questions and take notes on the open ended answers. Takes time of course. Even teachers may not want to fill in surveys. So how about focus groups? We have to be creative to get feedback and results. Thanks, Susan
True. But how accurate are surveys? Think about when you are asked to take one. Do you really think carefully about each answer? Yes or sometimes not, right? What I have found to be effective is more of a feedback form about the teachers, courses, etc.
Thanks Barbara. It is generally easier to complete and submit online surveys. But it's also easy to click delete. So you might want to find out the percent of response you get on line compared to other methods. Susan
I don't know what they used for surveys before, so I don't really know if we have more now. But I know we do get a lot of usage. I think it's easier for people to do and submit online, rather than having to remember to mail it, etc.
Thanks for the information, Barbara. It's new to us and we'll check it out. What is the percentage of response using surveymonkey? Do you get more response to surveys than other methods? Thanks
We use SurveyMonkey.com. We design the surveys and we can go in and get copies of the completed surveys or summaries of the answers. If we get a lot of students saying the same things, we might make changes in the curriculum, for instance. We use these surveys in lots of different areas of the school - employee reviews, customer satisfaction surveys, etc.
HI Barbara
Sounds great to use an online survey company. Which one is it? And what kind of information do they provide? And most important, what do you do with the information and what kinds of changes have you made? Are there other areas of your school that you could be surveying. Thanks, Susan
We use surveys for our students and staff that are administered by an online survey company. (Another instance of using the appropriate vendor.) The system works really well and lessens a lot of the evaluation burden.
Great Cindy. Start slowly with the surveys. Decide what you want to measure. Decide what you will do with the information. It is really important to share the information with your team, get their feedback, and use the info to make changes. You'll get all the answers you'll need from measuring and determining the results of your efforts and how to improve. Good luck, Susan
