I think there are at least two options to get referral given the new restrictions:
1. Bring a friend to school day and/or
2. Directly asking current student to refer someone (also contacting students that has successfully completed the program).
Asking current students and making sure that those referrals are not on the Do not call list. I also agree that when you ask students who are excited and have enjoyed the program, that are great for referrals!
The method of seeking students referrals is to "ASK" existing students and new students when you are enrolling them.
I agree with Vivian as well. We also get some referrals from our gradutes.
We use are currently enrolled students for referrals. They have hands on expreience to share with their family and friends.
I would only speak to a potential referral if they are present themselves to ask questions. I would never use another student for recruitment purposes.
Shana - what a creative way to share information with students!
A student should willingly and without any hesitation, give us consent to contact another potential student who may be interested in some of the programs that the school offers. A "refer a friend" day is one appropriate approach that some schools take.
Recently, our school sponsored an fun day on for our students. Each department designed fun activities for the students. Encouraging the students to rotate through each department exposed students to the difference program throughout school. Although the admission representative gives the students a tour of all departments within th school, frequently, students forget the about the other advance program located on campus. Our students may tell other family and friends about the program offered by the school.
Ask for referrals from students currently enrolled.
schools may do so without inducement or incentives. Plainly put, no promises should be made on behalf of the school to any student inorder to obtain referrals.
We ask students who are currently enrolled for referrals. Active students know what we are all about and have to offer since they attend the school. We ask them who they would refer to our school that would be a great fit that we can help to fulfil their dream.
I agree with Diana. The School Fair or Bring a Friend Day would be the potential for new referrals. In any case, the school official should not bribe or offer any incentive for a referral from active student.
I do not work in the Admissions Office to know all methods of seeking student referrals, and this topic was not introduced in Module #1 and Module #2. However, I can say that the prospective student recruitment must take place at the college itself or its territories that has obtained licensing as an additional location of the school.
Have programs in the school that are fun and active and have students invite their friends and family.
Don't forget to invite former grads to all school functions. Have the functions at times when more people can attend.
Be sure to have appropriate flyers and other materials on hand for people to pick up.
Be sure that staff members are on hand to answer questions and give tours if necessary.
Don't make function to long. Serve food.
Volunteer at other functions where you can show off your students. That will speak for itself.
Follow up with everyone.
Money or other incentives that carry monetary value can be too easily misconstrued.
"Bring a friend to school" day seems like a fair and fun attempt to gain referrals. Reminding current students and graduates that referrals are an option they are welcome to exercise seems appropriate as well.
Preferably, we are doing such an effective, wonderful job of educating and preparing our students to be successful in their chosen career fields the referrals will come naturally.
1. Obtain referrals from active students.
2. Make sure the referral is not on the DNC listing before calling.
I believe asking a current student who is happy and excited about the programs if they know anyone that might interested in making a career change.
I agree too. The safest way to adhere to these regulations is to have active students or recent graduates to refer a friend to the school to take a tour and talk to an admissions rep regarding the school's programs.
Going into classrooms with the instructors permission allows the possibility of requesting referrals from enrolled students.By giving an introduction speech on the benefits of referring friends and family helps the ability to obtain referrals;examples would be carpooling together, study buddies and heloing each other out in class.
