Competition of other schools

This really strikes a chord with me. There are things that you hear from potential students that have visited other schools.  I try not to take it personally, but it is personal. I am confident on the attributes and strengths I bring to the school.

I don't understand why another school has to make such negative comments. What good does that do. If you believe in yourself and what your school stands for .. I just don't understand.

If your potential students come visit your school - wouldn't your want to emphasize on why you shouldn't go there, but explain why you would want to come to you.

@bjones1210 : We have a major school that we compete with here in Tallahassee. Honestly, id say each month we have transfers that come to us complainging. The best thing you can do is say im glad you chose to come here, and sorry things didnt work out. Never egg on the bad talk, because word gets around and Karma might come back. There will always be competition with schools no matter where the location, You just have to think of positive reactions with everything you do. :)

@PattyBerak :We actually just had this discussion the  other day. We have a competitor of post secondary education who will tell prospective students why they should not attend our college. One of our recent graduates just told the staff that the reason they chose our college over our competitor was we did not 'Bad mouth' the other college. We simply pointed out the differences and allowed the prospective student to make their own decision.

I hope this helps.

@bjones1210 :

We have alot of competition where I am also. I tell the individual about the highlights of their education with us and then also suggest that they check out the other possibilities just as you said you do. In fact, one of our graduating students and I just had this discussion yesterday wherein she stated she was glad that she came to our school because she felt she got a more rounded education.
