Time Frame
When is the best time to prepare students for a career?
We implemented a new initiative for the campus called "Touch Points". It is meant to bring a constant awareness of the students desire in selecting a career college as it is focused on their ultimate goal of working in a career in the field they've studied. In the first 3 weeks of every term, the CS team enters each class and gives about 15-20 minute discussion on careers and the career services that are offered at the school. This is part of their education and we find that ready to graduate students are more receptive at being career ready and more engaged with the Career Services department for assistance.
Anna Katrin,
Discussions about the career the student will train for starts at admissions, in our opinion. Admissions staff needs to be assured that the prospect understands what the training is about and life on the job. Students should participate in some kind of employment skills training throughout their time at your school. It takes a while to learn job search skills and gain confidence. Thanks, Susan
