Ronda,

Thank you for introducing yourself. If your objectives are to establish stronger relationships with students and to create an alumni community, social media provides the right tools for these objectives. Ronda, you describe the community you'd like to see as one in which students can share success and even frustrations. It would be interesting to hear more about the overall objective you have with this strategy. How might such a community help you achieve your career center objectives? Are you prepared if sharing frustrations transforms into venting? How might you handle these types of interactions if they occur? What is the ultimate goal for building such a community? I encourage you to think about these questions and I'd be interesting in your thoughts.

Thank you.

Hello! I'm Ronda and I'm the Director of Career Services and have 3 Career Services Representatives. My goal is to learn how to best utilize Social Media to stay connected with my students and creating an "alumni" association, if you will, where students can share their successes and even to a degree their frustrations. Even though our Facebook page is very new, I've been encouraged to see the comments that students have posted and how they have responded to each other.

Hello Stacey,

Thanks so much for introducing yourself. As you progress in the course, if you have specific questions about anything, I encourage you to reach out and post your own discussion topics in the forums. I think social media will prove to be a valuable approach to designing a strategy to help you overcome your obstacles.

Hello,

My name is Stacey and I am the Director of Administrative and Student Affairs for our Branch Campus. I oversee admissions, career services, financial aid, student records and counseling services. Our school has been around for over 15 years and I have been here for about 3 years. When I first started I was shocked to find out that we did not have a Website. We are owned by a hospital, so are almost like a department within the hospital, which can be somewhat frustrating at times because they do not see the need for our own website, social media etc….Now we finally have our own website, thank goodness but we are extremely new to social media. My goal is to learn as much as I can and how it can benefit our students and our campuses and to share what I have learned with management and our other campus. Our department that needs the most help is career services. We have a lot of foreign student that go back and visit their countries after they graduate, which makes it extremely hard to keep tabs on them and their job search. I am hoping social media will assist in remaining in close contact after they graduate. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Stacey
