retention campus changes
our campus was in need of a make over after repainting and rebuilding some of our labs this place looks great the student have pride once again and have stated the brighten up of the class makes them want to come
I think it is the faculty member’s responsibility to maintain the best learning environment possible for their students. This would include "eye candy" in the classroom for visual stimulation and learning and a neat and clean classroom. It is also the student’s responsibility to maintain what facility has provided for them. I have my students wipe down the tables every day after class so the next class can have the best learning environment possible. They are also graded on their professionalism in the classroom and labs.
What responsibility do faculty members have in maintaining the work space? How about the students? Are they expected/graded on how they treat their environment?
I must agree. It is a very important part of learning, to have a bright and well lighted area of study.. the students seem to take more pride in thier grades when they can take pride in where they are working.
Keeping training aids and tools in tip top condition will help keep students excited about coming to school.
Good point, Cecil. It's easy to overlook the importance of appearance re: student and staff motivation. None of us like to work in unpleasant conditions but sometime our environment just gets shabby with the passage of time. A fresh coat of paint can elevate spirits and performance.
