the foundation for student support starts with happy, respected, acknowledge faculty.

If retention starts in the classroom, school administrators (managers) can't forget to focus some support, respect and appreciation to the teachers as well as the students. I beleive that an environment of encouragement an a appreciation for the faculty also needs to be considered and implimented.

Adjunct faculty often teach a substantial portion of the classes, but may not feel that they are part of the school culture. It is very important to include adjuncts in professional development activities, staff meetings, etc even if it means paying for additional hours.

I could not agree with you more. It is necessary to start with appreciation for the adjunct faculty contribution

I agree, It takes a village(management, instructors and faculty) to support students.

I have to say I agree too. If the employee does not feel appreciated and respected then he will pass these negative feeling on in the class room. However, if the instructor feels that he can rely on his managers to back his decisions in disciplinary maters, be well compensated for what they do and not feel that if they have problems they (the instructors) are going to have a file built on them, then they will be happy to help the students, stay more involved in their retention and exude a friendlier class room persona. But, as the first section states, it is not always up to the instructor to keep the student in class, incompatibility is not something everyone can change.

Is the computer system part of a general data base? Who has access? Does it include information about attendance and grades as well these comments?

We are asked by management if there are any student issues. We also are required to update a computer internention process weekly to keep all informed if a student is failing or has some personal issues that could be resolved before its too late.

Have you asked management for their help before they want to know what you're doing?

I agree, sometime management should say to you,How can I help with this situation and not always say, what did you or are you going to do about this.

I agree.Appreciated faculty will foster a postive culture. It is all about the student.

I agree with you more attention to students situation as course materials.
