Retention
Reading RT101 explains retention in a different form so many should have a different out look. Even though instructor’s number 1 objective is to educate the student we all have to remember that everyone including our selves has to deal with day to day living. Some people are mature enough to deal with day to day living. Our younger more impressionable students fresh out of high school my need couching to aid with being away from home for the first time.
The one on one that a student in need gets from and instructor that takes the time to identify him/her as a student in need, is invaluble to the student. This may make or break the students decision to withdraw or continue through the schooling. I enjoy the feeling I get when I know that I have given a student another prespective on a problem they may not have seen before and know that it has influenced their decision to stay in school.
I agree, sometimes a little personal attention and caring from a instructor goes a long way to encourage a student to be sucessful and possably finish the program or school.
