retention

everyone in the organization has a resoncible part in student retention. seeing the warning signs of a possible student wanting to stop thier education can be difficult

as students near graduation I see a loss of motivation and a sense of false confidence that the students have learned all they need to suceed in thier field, it is important to bring up goals and remind students that the final strech may be the most inportant time to hone skills and reinforce what was learned.

This is true, however, it is difficult for some students to share their most delecate and possibly humiliating situations that result in a drop out. Not all students are willing to share personal information, even when we show we care.

Is this burden of proof personal for each student or are there some universal actions that make the point? Is this time sensitive in the student's experience?

I think the first thing students need from us is a proof that we do care. When we change the way we look at things , the things we look at change.
