Others factors can interfer with learning and student sucess, it is our goal as effective educators to help eleviate some of the problems.

This is a good point. While the class should be challenging it should also have an inviting nature about it. I try to create a semi-fluid learning environment. There is structure to the course, but the environment is not totally rigid and set. Sort of like- Risotto versus Day-old Sushi Rice.
