Calling to Career?

What a devolution! Calling to Career to Job to Necessary evil. Having every student to follow his or her calling might take more than a quarter of study. These second year technical college students simply writ a paragraph about their career goals three years hence. Some express surprisingly high objectives. If they shoot for the moon and hit the clouds, it's better than aiming for the clouds and reaching the second floor.

I often relate to my own evolution of career experience. I think this helps the undeveloped career choices of students to look outside the box. We all can't say what we will be doing in years to come. I always encourage an open mind and that career paths change.

To be able to write career goals three years hence implies that they have some guidance about opportunities in the field. How are they introduced to career ladders and what will be needed to advance to the next rung?
