Directory
at our school we have made a directory it is comprised of telephone numbers, which department handles what issues, who is in charge of the department, If it is divided according to the alphabet we have that information also. We are also committed to escorting the student to the person the student needs to see giving it that personal touch
Frequently, this compilation happens in the Student Services department. In fact, they probably already have a list of ready resources that they can use when students come to see them. Hopefully, it wouldn't be too big a task to formalize this information as a starting point.
You can also ask students to submit information about resources they currently use or know about.
I'm interested in a staff directory as well. Tell me how you got started and who will devote the time necessary. We certainly need this great "easy button" idea. Some things are so simple they are brilliant. Thanks
Actually I started today. Each instructor received a "If a student" list. It lists the problems the student may have, everything from transporation to where to get change, and who the student should see.
In the near future, I will work with Student Services to develop a more complete directory for the students.
It's good to hear that you were prompted to identify a need. Who will be responsible for completing this directory? Do you envision it being inter-departmental and include community resources?
When I read this module, I realized that our instructors don't know who to send students to for help. A listing or directory would not only be useful for the instructors to have, but also for the students.
